Rules of Text Tone Chicken

Text Tone Chicken is a game you can play with any number of friends, provided you have a phone manufactured this century. The idea is simple: replace your default text message or email alert with a tiny snippet from a guilty-pleasure song (not the whole thing, that would be silly). Works best with melodramatic noughties nu-metal (Papa Roach, Korn, Linkin Park…) or hyper-cutesy girl pop (Daphne & Celeste, The Cheeky Girls, Britney Spears…). I would also recommend keeping it clean.

The loser is the first player to crack under the embarrassment or annoying repetition of said message alert. There is never really a winner, because you can theoretically keep playing the game until you die. Also, sometimes there will be no clear loser because using hilarious text tones becomes so commonplace you forget you were ever playing a game. In this scenario, all players must put their hands in the air like they just don’t care.
